Maurizio Moretta who was born at Gravedona (CO), completed his musical studies with Liceo Musicale “V. Appiani” – Monza, under the guidance of Rosamaria Losi and GIanluigi Centemeri.
He graduated in principal piano at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Milan obtaining the maximum marks.
He completed a phase of perfection in Milan with Vincenzo Balzani and later in Munich with Ludwig Hoffman.
He was awarded first prize at the International Piano Competition “Viotti” – Varallo. Further more he has carried out an intensive concert career which has gained overwhelming appraisals ( Corriere Della Sera, La Stampa, Il Giorno, Panorama, Epoca, Capital, L’Espresso etc.), which brought about his exhibitions all over Italy and abroad organised by prestigious associations and also in well known theatres such as: The Smetana Hall – Prague, the Musikverein – Vienna, the Laeiszhalle – Hamburg, the Sala Felipe Villanueva and Teatro bicentenario (Messico), the Sala Verdi – Milan (“Società dei Concerti”, “Serate Musicali”), The Teatro Manzoni – Milan (Gruppo Fininvest), Palazzo Barberini and Chiostro del Bramante – Rome, Palazzo Ducale – Massa.
He has played as a soloist with many prestigious orchestras such as: Wiener Mozart Orchester (Vienna), North Czech Philarmonic and Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra (Praga), Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, Istambul Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica de Stato – Messico, I Cameristi del Verbano, Orchestra Sinfonica Tchaikovsky (Mosca), Oradea State Philarmonic, Dinu Lipatti Philharmonic Orchestra (Satu Mare), Filarmonica Mihail Jora (Bacau), Filarmonica Nazionale Paul Costantinescu (Vidin), Orchestra Sinfonica di Grosseto, Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, Orchestra Sinfonica del Friuli Venezia Giulia, Orchestra ICO della Magna Grecia, Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese.
He has actively taught piano at the Liceo Musicale “V.Appiani” – Monza and is still Director and piano teacher at both the Civico Istituto Musicale Alto Lario – Dongo and also at 5 Valli – Porlezza.
He has been invited to participate in various juries of national and internatial competitions and also as an external commissioner with regards to Conservatory examinations.
He has been Artistic Consultant of the Provincial Administration of Como, Artistic Director of the Como and Insubria Festival and is still Acting as Artistic Director of the Pianomaster Festival, the Varenna Festival and of the International Lirical Competition Giuditta Pasta – Saronno.
